Universities UK relaunches website to celebrate 90th year
Universities UK, the major representative body and membership organisation for
the higher education sector, today relaunches its website with a host of new
features. The redesigned website offers dynamic content, improved navigation and
greater accessibility, along with a wealth of new information.
Diana Warwick, Chief Executive, Universities UK, said:
“Our new website celebrates UUK’s 90th year in the best way possible – by
bringing our web presence right up to date for the 21st century. It enables us
to showcase UUK’s policy and research work, our publications and our events, and
will enable every higher education stakeholder to engage and interact with
Universities UK’s work.”
“In today’s world of 24-hour electronic media, our new website will be able to
support fully Universities UK in its long-standing mission to be the essential
voice and the best support for a vibrant, successful and diverse university
sector.”
The website, developed for Universities UK by BMN, was built using Microsoft
Office SharePoint Server 2007, which allows value-added services including
podcasting and RSS feeds. Features include a new home page identifying important
developments, upcoming events and access to research outputs; a dedicated
newsroom with a comprehensive media release archive; online events registration;
a substantial policy and research section covering submissions, reports, and
discussion papers on UUK’s work; and powerful search functions.
Ryan Green, Managing Director of BMN, said:
“BMN are committed to setting new standards for SharePoint solutions in the
public sector. Our strategy of applying the latest private sector best practice,
the highest quality technical standards and the most competitive possible
pricing model has delivered an outstanding solution for Universities UK that by
far exceeds the quality and value of other public sector projects.”
“BMN are leaders in providing customised, accessible, integrated SharePoint
solutions at up to half the cost of our direct competitors and delivered within
timescales often unseen in the public domain. Remaining committed to providing
the highest quality at the best possible value, BMN are delighted to continue to
support the SharePoint strategy for Universities UK.”
Further improvements and features will be added to the UUK website over the
coming months.
