A SharePoint 2007 showcase deployment, demonstrating the key benefits of
introducing SharePoint.
BMN are experts in SharePoint and Microsoft .NET development and our pedigree
in SharePoint has been recognised by BP selecting us to provide this showcase, the purpose of which has been to illustrate the key benefits
that SharePoint would bring as a key service line platform.
The project required BMN to create a number of scenarios that would
illustrate SharePoint's pillars of key functionality within the context of
existing practices within our client. The project highlighted BMN’s breadth of knowledge
and technical competency from server-level configuration to user experience
design at a level that many did not believe was possible in the tight timescales
and available budget.
Working with our client, BMN exceeded the original objectives and delivered a
showcase within 8 weeks which clearly demonstrates the key benefits to be
derived through a SharePoint deployment in the following scenarios:
- Web Content Management:- demonstrating the ability to leverage investment in
SharePoint as the intranet platform of choice in the future.
- Project Solutions:- demonstrating how native features of WSS 3.0 can be used
to create standardised templates for consistent delivery of technology projects
as well as the application of branded themes to WSS 3.0 sites
- Infopath Request Forms:- demonstrating how existing manual business
processes can be digitally enabled and managed via business workflows and
introducing social computing in the form of “my sites” for expert search.
- Group Planning:- demonstrating the concept of departmental portals, self
governance of information and business processes, the gathering and
consolidation of external data as well as the presentation of business
intelligence through high level analysis, reports and dashboards.
